Introduction to Youth Link
Even as children, some people know exactly what kind of work they want to
do as an adult. Most people, though, are faced with a vast array of choices
and have only vague ideas about where their talents lie. They're often not sure
how to turn those choices and possibilities into making a place for themselves
in the working world.
Youth Link can help you make the transition from school to work, no matter
where you are on the path to finding a career that suits you. Youth Link offers
information on close to 200 programs, services and resources. Whether you're
looking for support to gain the education and skills you need to reach your
goal, some experience to help you test the waters, or the chance to travel and
broaden your horizons, Youth Link will point you in the right direction. Doing
the research, having the courage to jump in and take the initiative - that part
is up to you.
Youth Link provides information on scholarships, work experiences and
summer jobs for students in high school, university and college. It's also a
great research tool if you want to get some work experience first and then go
back to school. No matter what your situation, there are numerous
organizations willing to help, and you can find out about them here. There's
everything from A-Z - in fact, the information is listed alphabetically to
simplify your search.
Youth Link offers comprehensive information on a cross-section of awards and
grants, career development tools, work placements and travel exchanges.
These tools, programs and opportunities are intended to help young people
achieve their goals. Addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and Web
sites are included so you can follow up on your own.
Youth Link was developed through the Government of Canada's Youth
Employment Strategy. Let us know if you have suggestions on how we can
help you even more. We want to know what worked - or didn't work - for you.
