Embassy closed until January 15

(January 13, 2006)

There are recent credible reports of renewed terrorist threats against Western interests in Jordan. The Embassy of Canada in Amman has been closed until January 15, 2006, as a precautionary step.

Canadians in Jordan should maintain a high level of personal security awareness at all times and in all places and exercise caution, particularly in commercial establishments and public areas.

Canadians in need of assistance should communicate with the Emergency Operations Centre in Ottawa at 613-996-8885.

For advice on travel to Jordan, see Foreign Affairs Canada's Travel Report.
