 Weather Trivia

On this day... Dec 10, 1905

'In the early 1900s, most Canadian cities had bylaws requiring citizens to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within four hours. If snow fell at night, it had to be cleared before noon. If the ice was too hard to remove, the bylaw stated that ashes should be strewn on the snow to prevent people from slipping. Businesses failing to remove the snow were warned to clear their sidewalks without delay.'
