38th Parliament, 1st
Session
(October 4, 2004 - November 29, 2005)
House Private Members' Bills
Users of Private Members’ Bills on the Parliamentary Website will notice some differences in the Web
(or HTML) version of newly published bills. This is the result of a change in the system used in the
publishing of these bills (PRISM System). During this transition, some bills will continue to be in the
previous (English and French) format while other bills will be in the new format, a single, bilingual document.
All bills for the Second Session of the 37th Parliament will eventually be moved to this new format.
For background and analysis on a bill, consult the legislative summary,
prepared for most government bills by the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament.
Numbering of Private Members’ Public Bills is sequential, commencing with C-201. Under Provisional
Standing Orders now in effect, bills which have neither received Royal Assent nor been dropped or withdrawn
from the Order Paper continue from one session to the next but must to be re-introduced at the beginning of
a new Parliament.
