The Government of Canada and the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge
Authority announced the
completion of work on the U.S. Plaza at
the Peace Bridge, one of the projects funded under the Canada-Peace
Bridge Border Infrastructure Fund. |

Present at the ceremony marking the completion of the work on the Peace
Bridge were John Maloney, MP; John Lopinski, Chairman
of the PBA; David Bradley from the Ontario Trucking Association; and
Winston Barrus, Acting Director of Field Operations for the Buffalo
Field Office of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Construction of the new facility - valued at approximately $1.7 million
- is scheduled to begin in late October, 2005, with completion expected

Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre led a
transportation
mission to the People's Republic of China from September 1st through
7th, 2005. The mission included stops in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong
to discuss various transportation issues including Canada as a gateway
to North America, as well as aviation, marine and intermodal
opportunities.
