The Government of Canada and the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority announced the completion of work on the U.S. Plaza at the Peace Bridge, one of the projects funded under the Canada-Peace Bridge Border Infrastructure Fund.

Lapierre - and CTMA Souris Ferry Terminal Manager, Gil Nowlan (left), unveil an artist's rendering of the new ferry terminal building to be constructed at Souris, PEI. Souris is the PEI terminus of the CTMA ferry which services the Magdalene Islands, Quebec. Construction of the new facility - valued at approximately $1.7 million - is scheduled to begin in late October, 2005, with completion expected in mid-June, 2006.

Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre and Minister of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, Yang Yuanyuan sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation in Aviation. Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre led a transportation mission to the People's Republic of China from September 1st through 7th, 2005. The mission included stops in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong to discuss various transportation issues including Canada as a gateway to North America, as well as aviation, marine and intermodal opportunities.
