Social Development Canada SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES © Her Majesty the Queen ISPB 329-10-04 The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) supports the Government of Canada in its commitment to strengthen our country's social foundations and promote the well-being of individuals, families and communities. The program provides grants of up to $25,000 to support a wide range of community-based projects across Canada that encourage seniors' active living, social participation and helps them to contribute to their communities. Who can apply?Community-based organizations working together with seniors and other partners will inspire and run most New Horizons for Seniors projects. To be funded, projects must demonstrate community support and partnership. The program empowers seniors to lead activities and projects that will benefit other seniors, vulnerable groups and the community where they live. Funding is provided for projects that:
How are priorities set?Priorities are based on the unique needs of seniors in the various regions across Canada. They are set in each province and territory by governments and groups active in seniors' issues. Priorities are available from Social Development Canada. Contact us or visit our website. To be considered for funding, your proposal must meet the priorities set out for your area. What is the approval process?
When can our organization apply?Social Development Canada will issue a call for applications once or twice a year. Deadlines will be announced publicly on the Department's website.
