The Joint Steering Committee of the Voluntary Sector Initiative has recently released the second formal accounting on the relationship between the federal government and the voluntary sector. The report, The Journey Continues: The Second Report to Canadians on Implementing An Accord Between the Government of Canada and the Voluntary Sector, describes the Government of Canada and voluntary sector accomplishments to date and identifies joint priorities for the coming year.

A total of 47 federal departments and agencies provided information for the report. The data affirms that the Government of Canada is committed to integrating the Accord and two supporting Codes of Good Practice — one on funding and the other on policy dialogue — in the way it does business with the voluntary sector. The report also highlights how departments and agencies share good practices and lessons learned in implementing the Accord and Codes.

Please visit the Voluntary Sector Initiative Web site at www.vsi-isbc.ca to view the report, the Accord and the Codes.
