Compensation Modernization

Compensation Modernization

What is it?

Compensation Modernization is the renewal of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) compensation services, systems and business processes to be able to continue to fulfill PWGSC’s mandate and provide modern, “industry best practices” services to employees and pensioners.

Why modernize?

The capability of existing systems and business processes is not sufficient to meet increasing client demands for greater flexibility and functionality. The current systems and business processes:

  • limit PWGSC’s ability to increase services to employees,
  • hamper migration to delivery models mandated by Government On-line (GOL), e-HR and Accounting, Banking and Compensation Branch initiatives, and
  • reduce the ability to adapt to new technologies and business practices.

Delivering on PWGSC's commitment to providing value-added services to its clients across the public service requires greater client focus, more flexibility and variety in service options, and enhanced access to information including:

  • self-service options,
  • real time processing, and
  • seamless interfaces.

Objectives

Client-focused services

  • Systems and service delivery options with the flexibility and functionality to simultaneously meet the unique needs of multiple clients
  • Seamless interfaces with client systems
  • Access 24/7 to common inquiries and transactions through Web, on-line, and self-service options
  • Automated and simplified administrative processes
  • Variety of transaction options
  • Implementation of "best practices" used by industry leaders

Compensation expertise

Accessible and accurate information

  • Common data and rules repository
  • Automated data collection, remittance tools and processes
  • Real time processing of events (transactions)

Infrastructure and organization

  • Personnel (technical, advisory and administrative) to provide client-focused services well into the future
  • Sustainable systems capable of accommodating future technologies efficiently
