This Sector's activities are divided between the Acquisition, the Projects, and the Professional Services functions. The Acquisition Service functions comprise of three procurement organizations which provides procurement services, valued at approximately $4.1 billion per year, for a wide range of federal government departments such as the National Defence, Transport Canada, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and others.

The AMES Sector employs approximately 450 people located at its Headquarters in Hull, Que., as well as in Ottawa, Ont., the United States and Europe.
