Minister's Message
Budget 2005
Budget
2005 introduces some fundamental changes in the way the Government
of Canada purchases goods and services and manages its office properties.
This is in keeping with our department's major transformation agenda
to help us deliver services smarter, faster and at a reduced cost.
PWGSC's strategy focuses on increasing efficiencies in three key
areas: procurement, property management, and information technology.
In addition, we will help lead the government effort to green its
operations and contribute to its sustainable development agenda.
Budget 2005 commits the Government of Canada to achieving savings
of $2.5 billion over five years on the procurement of goods and
services and of $925 million over five years on our real property
program savings that we can reinvest in priorities such as
health care and the environment. But this is about more than generating
savings. It is about better accountability, increased transparency,
demonstrating results and showing Canadians that they are getting
value for their money the fundamental tenets of good government.
