André Juneau

Deputy Minister, Infrastructure Canada

André Juneau, Deputy Minister

Building, connecting and sharing knowledge about communities and infrastructure is a key priority for Infrastructure Canada (INFC). Research is a fundamental building block for good public policy and decision-making. Ensuring that a more integrated, more rigorous research base is available to support evidence-based policy, decisions and communications on infrastructure and communities is one of the key drivers behind INFC’s new Peer Reviewed Research Studies (PRRS) funding program.

Through the PRRS program, INFC will support research activities that stimulate and support collaborative, horizontal policy research on priority issues related to public infrastructure and communities; encourage the development and maintenance of a strong research community in this area; and foster stronger exchange of information and knowledge in this area amongst policy makers, experts, practitioners, communities, non-governmental organizations, industry and the general public.

I would like to extend my appreciation to both the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Sciences and Engineering Research Canada (NSERC) for assistance in administering this exciting new program to build, connect and share knowledge on infrastructure and communities.
