What is a CA Number?

A CA number is a five-digit identification number preceded by the letters CA.

Canadian Textile companies use this number to meet provisions of the Textile Labelling Act which require prescribed consumer textile articles to be labelled with the identity of the person by or for whom it was made.

This provision of the Act can be satisfied by identifying on the labels attached to the clothing or other textile articles, either:

  • the full name and postal address of the dealer, or
  • in the case of a Canadian dealer, a CA number.

Only Canadian textile retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and importers are allowed to register for a CA Number.
