In early 2001, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) began working with members of the Charlottetown community to form the Community Liaison Committee.

This committee, comprised of local citizens, provides input and feedback into various aspects of the new building. Since its inception, the Community Liaison Committee has participated in and attended a number of open houses, public announcements and meetings. During the next several years, the Community Liaison Committee will also be involved in a number of important initiatives with PWGSC, including helping to name the new building and launching a community newsletter titled 'Charlottetown Cornerstone.' The newsletter will feature projects highlights, and schedule updates.

Summer 2003 also provided PWGSC with an opportunity to begin exploring additional Web sites to promote the project on. By establishing a relationship with the operator and webmaster of Townsquare.ca. PWGSC established a link on that site under the marketplace section where residents and tourists can gain access to the Charlottetown Project Web Site.

In late 2003, PWGSC also extended its reach into the community by working with local Grade 5 and 6 school children on a murals that will surround the site while construction is taking place over the next two years.
