The Government of Canada (GoC) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada are committed to respecting the personal privacy of individuals who visit our Web sites. This page summarizes the privacy policy and practices of Fisheries and Oceans Canada sites.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada does not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or street address during your visit to its Web sites. Privacy Notice for the Collection of Personal Information

Necessary measures have been taken to protect the confidentiality of the personal information you provide.

The information you provide is collected under the authority of the Privacy Act. We will use this information to enter your name into contests, and to gather your comments on various ocean initiatives.

Your personal information will be held in the Department's Personal Information Bank (number DFO PPU 130) for 2 years. It is protected under the Privacy Act.

According to the Privacy Act, you have rights with respect to the information you submit. You may upon request:

• Be given access to your file
• Have incorrect information corrected of have a notation attached.
