The City of Charlottetown is a flourishing community of over 32,000 people located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. Charlottetown is the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is called "Canada's Birthplace" after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led to Confederation.

Eastern Canadian Basketball Championships coming to Charlottetown
Mayor Clifford Lee and Basketball PEI Executive Director, Greg Lucas, jointly announced today that the 2006 Eastern Canadian Bantam and Mini Bantam Basketball Championships will be hosted in Charlottetown June 28th-July 2nd.
The Eastern Canadian Championships will bring together some of the best athletes and top teams in the eastern Canada, while showcasing the great sport of basketball. The Championships will be held at the University of Prince Edward Island Sports Centre and at High Schools throughout the City, with over 400 males and females participating between the ages of 13-14.

National Junior Wrestling Championship Coming to Charlottetown
Mayor Clifford Lee and Wrestling PEI Executive Director, Glen Flood, jointly announced today that the 2007 Junior National Wrestling Championship will be hosted in Charlottetown March 16th and 17th.
The Junior National Championship will bring together some of the best athletes in the country, while showcasing the sport of wrestling. Over 15,000 Canadians are actively involved in the sport of wrestling as coaches, athletes and officials. This number does not include the many individuals who volunteer their time, or the many parents and spectators who partake in the sport.
