P.E.I. TUNA SEASON FOR EX-SECTOR DELAYED

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced today there is a delay in the reporting time and season for the ex-sector P.E.I. tuna fishermen. The reporting date has been changed to August 19th, 1996, at 12 noon.

This change is necessary to allow tuna fishermen time to develop and negotiate alternatives to the hail-out/hail-in requirements for the fishery in 4T.

The registration deadline of July 18th, 1996, will not be altered.
