Welcome to the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs
Welcome to the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) – the government of Nova Scotia’s central coordinating agency for intergovernmental relations.
IGA coordinates the Province’s relations with federal, provincial and territorial governments as well as with other governments.
Ensuring a consistent approach in the province’s relations with other governments, as well as ensuring a corporate perspective in dealings in national and international arenas is a key focus for the department.
On the federal-provincial front, IGA works to promote an understanding of Nova Scotia’s priorities. The department has increased the visibility of the province with the
opening of an office in Ottawa on February
6.
An integral part of our operations is the Protocol Office which helps to set the scene for the province’s intergovernmental strategy through managing logistics for government sponsored conferences, meetings and official visits. It provides protocol advice to both the public and private sectors. Find out more about the Protocol Office at
