Message from the ChairAs you are no doubt aware, the Workers’ Compensation Act is an important piece of legislation that protects workers and employers in the territory against the result of workplace injuries and illnesses. A three-person panel has been given the task of reviewing this Act and presenting options for change. The Review Panel has recently released the Options for Legislative Changes to Yukon's Workers' Compensation Act and asked to hear your thoughts and comments. In order to receive this feedback, the Panel held a series of public meetings in Whitehorse and Yukon communities. Stakeholders and other interested parties were encouraged to make written submissions to the Panel. The deadline for making submissions was June 15, 2006. Submissions were forwarded to the minister responsible by the panel chair and are available for viewing. Comments Received by the Workers' Compensation Act Review Panel Written Submissions: Previously Unreleased Comments: The Review Panel will now analyze the options and their implications and prepare recommendations for legislative changes for the Minister responsible for the Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board.
