Prime Minister Names New Senate Whip

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien has named Senator Léonce Mercier as the new Government Whip in the Senate.
In announcing the appointment, the Prime Minister expressed his deep appreciation to Senator Jacques Hébert, who has served as Whip since November 1993 and will be retiring from the Senate on June 21, 1998.
