Rabin -- A statement by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien expressed the great sorrow and outrage of the Canadian government and people at the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin today.
"The world has lost a great man dedicated to peace and reconciliation," stated the Prime Minister. "We condemn this cowardly act of terrorism against a leader who has taken courageous risks for peace in the Middle East."
Mr. Chrétien said that the prayers of the Canadian people are with the family of Prime Minister Rabin and all the people of Israel.
