Professional DevelopmentWorkshopsLibrary and Archives Canada's Learning Centre - Canada's Treasures in Your Classroom! Learn about the new educational portal developed by Library and Archives Canada to provide services and products for Canadian teachers and students. New products include a searchable database of curriculum-connected, classroom-ready educational resources and The EvidenceWeb, a database of thematically grouped primary sources for use by teachers and students. The "Toolkit" section provides guides on a wide variety of topics, including using primary and secondary sources and developing Internet research skills. In this workshop we will demonstrate the portal's content, features and navigation. The EvidenceWeb - Discovering Primary Sources for Lessons and Projects Library and Archives Canada has opened its vaults and digitized many unique objects for use in Canadian classrooms. Discover how primary and secondary sources were selected for digitization, grouped thematically and prepared for use by students and teachers. Three initial educational resources were specifically developed using EvidenceWeb themes on the Loyalists, Canadian Confederation and the Cold War Era. Learn how teachers can use this new database to enhance their lesson plans or supplement material in textbooks and how students can use a variety of objects for their research projects.
