Memorabilia owned by William Avery 'Billy' Bishop, WWI Canadian Hero

In 1999, a complete set of miniature medals, owned by Billy Bishop and worn by him at less formal events, were purchased by the Canada Aviation Museum, aided by a grant of the Movable Cultural Property Program of the Department. These medals included the Victoria Cross, the Companion of the Bath, the British War Medal and the French Legion of Honour. Also, the museum acquired a set of RFA Wings, which officers commonly presented to wives or sweethearts and a tin model of a C5 aeroplane reportedly constructed for Bishop by his crew.
