In 2006, National Forest Week will move from the spring to the fall, taking place September 24-30. As a result, the Canadian Forestry Association is publishing a teachers' kit this fall that will, in addition to providing forest-related lesson plans to schools, announce the change to educators. The CFS has produced a special edition poster to be included in this kit, which you can view and order here: Special Edition Poster 2005
Canada’s forests contribute significantly to the
high standard of living, clean air and water that we enjoy. The week
was established in 1926 by the Canadian Forestry Association and originally
called Forest Fire Prevention Week. Experts at Natural Resources Canada's Canadian Forest Service help keep our forest healthy by continuously developing, improving and sharing their scientific innovations, by leading the international dialogue on forests, and by fostering better communication and cooperation among the forest community in Canada and abroad. The Canadian Forest Service, over the last 100-plus years has maintained and will continue to maintain a tradition of excellence. A healthy Canadian forest is one of the many success stories we like to share with the world especially during this special week. Photo: J. David Andrews, The Forests of Canada, Canadian Forest Service publication.
