Breaking the Ice

Leadership Development Training Weekend

At 23:30 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2004, a report of two overdue joggers arrived at HMCS Scotian . Immediately, two search and rescue teams deployed to Halifax's South End and were ordered to search Point Pleasant Park. With the effects of the front edge of a hurricane already being felt, time was of the essence as winds were scheduled to pick up to 150 knots by 02:00. [More]

Graduation at the canadian forces university program (télé-université)

The annual Télé-université graduation ceremony took place in Quebec City last September. Among the graduates were four students who completed their studies under the Canadian Forces University Program (CFUP): Ms. Katia Canciani and Sophie Perreault, both spouses of military personnel, Major Yves Fleurant, and Mr. Jean-Martin Dupuis, retired military.

The CFUP’s French version is a Télé-université program open to military members, both from the Regular Force and the Reserves, active or retired, as well as to DND civilian employees, and to their spouses. [More]

R82 P RES INT SEA - The way ahead for training and employment

It's official! With the release of CANFORGEN 130/04 on 25 Oct ober , the Intelligence occupation is now organized into environmental sub-divisions for both the Regular Force and Primary Reserve (P   Res), the R86 NCAGS occupation is officially deleted, and NCAGS training is now a component of the new R82 Primary Reserve Intelligence - Sea (R82 P P  RES RES  INT INT  SEA) qualification. HMCS Glace Bay explores the unknown

HMCS Glace Bay, led by Commanding Officer LCdr Scott Healey, embarked the Deep Seabed Intervention System (DSIS) on short notice on a rainy day of April at the Fleet Diving Unit in Shearwater.

The ship and her company prepared for a three-week mission involving a one-week assisted Work Ups and two weeks on her own with the highly capable remotely operated vehicle ( ROV ) and its team. [More]
