Productivity

Canadians enjoy the best quality of life in the world, something we know as individuals and the rest of the world has come to recognize in the annual United Nations rankings. Economic, social and environmental dimensions all contribute to our quality of life. This site will deal principally with the contribution that improved productivity can make to improving our standard of living, and thereby our quality of life.

Why raise productivity levels?

Improving productivity, in order to increase our standard of living, is a long-term proposition. Productivity enhancement is a complex problem, and there are no simple solutions. However, experience elsewhere over the last two decadesshows that it can be tackled successfully. The need for sustained improvement in our productivity performance will become even more pressing over the next decade as changing demographics and increasing North American economic integration really begin to bite. Sustained productivity improvement going forward will be imperative in order to ensure our future prosperity.
