November 2005

Canadian Textile Industry Mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil

Industry Canada, through the Canadian Apparel and Textile Industry Program, along with the CTT Group is leading a trade mission of Canadian textile companies to Sao Paulo, Brazil in November, 2005.

Brazil is one of the fastest growing technical textile markets in all of the Americas. Brazil’s economy outweighs that of all other South American countries and is expanding its presence in world markets. With a population of 182 million, Brazil is the largest nation in South America and the 5th largest in the world with a land area of 3.3 million square miles. Brazil has a vast developing market economy. It is the ninth largest industrialized nation and is considered as an advanced economy among developing nations. Brazil has about half of South America in population, territory, and economy.

The South American mission will be held in conjunction with the Techtextil South America trade show scheduled from Tuesday, November 22nd to Thursday, November 24th. Techtextil South America, is the major fair for the technical textiles and nonwovens sector in Brazil and South America. The last show in 2003 featured more than 5000 attendees from South America, Europe and Asia and attracted 181 exhibitors. The 2005 event will build on the previous three events and is expected to be bigger and better this year. For more information, please visit the Messe Frankfurt website.

Along with our participation at the most important value-added textile trade show in South America via the Canadian Pavilion, a 1200 sq. ft. trade area strategically located at the show, the mission program for South America being developed also offers Canadian textile companies:

  • Pre-participation exhibitor training (i.e. August and October)
  • Market information (Brazilian Textile Market)
  • Group space in the Pavilion
  • On-site matchmaking activities organized with the Brasilian Chamber of Commerce
  • Organized meetings with potential buyers
  • Canadian reception during the show
  • Industrial visits (in or around Sao Paulo)
