The Recruitment Process

In February/March of each year, Measurement Canada initiates a recruitment process to fill entry level positions at various locations across the country. Taking into account the various steps involved in the selection process, positions are typically filled in April or May.

Depending on a number of factors, such as budget and operational requirements, additional recruitment may be done at various times throughout the year.

Applicants who clearly demonstrate that they meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Situational Judgment Test 317 (SJT). Those who are successful in the SJT will then be invited to participate in the PSC’s Written Communications Test 345 (WCT) designed to assess their ability to write in a clear and concise manner.

Based on the ranking order on the WCT, a fixed number of applicants (a ratio of 10 candidates per position) will be invited to proceed to the next phase of the selection process which includes written and oral exams to evaluate knowledge of applied sciences and mathematics, abilities and personal suitability.
