How to Use the Database to Identify a Training Supplier

Here are a few easy examples to illustrate how you can use the database of training suppliers. In most cases you will find that you can do your search in five or fewer steps.

Example 1 — You want to identify training providers in Alberta to help your company deal with organisational change.

Example 2 — You are interested in identifying training providers specific to your industry that provide sales training. Your company is in the Tourism sector and located in British Columbia.

Example 3 — You are interested in developing a literacy program for your employees. You are interested in identifying a training provider to assist you with your project. Your company is located in Ontario.

Example 4 — You are interested looking for information technology products or multi media products available to assist in the training of your staff. Your organisation is located in Quebec.

Example 1 —
You want to identify training providers to help your company deal with organisational change.

Many companies are constantly dealing with changes to their organisation, addressing issues such as:

• Implementing a new manufacturing process;
• Developing a new approach to delivering services;
• Looking at the corporate culture;
• Understanding organisational change;
• Motivating employees;
• Reviewing the quality of human resources; and,
• Implementing strategies to develop the company into a leading edge learning organisation.

Here are some of the steps to follow in order to find training providers: 

Step 1: Select the "Canadian Training Suppliers by Area of Training" option. The information is listed by sector and areas of training specialization.

Step 2: Select from the list "Organisational Training and Development" option. (You are likely to find organisations providing this type of training here.)

Step 3: Select the "Search" feature because you are interested in identifying the training providers in Alberta.

Step 4: Select "Alberta" in the "Search" feature and click on "Search". (The list of companies you see are the training suppliers that provide organisational Training and Development in the Province of Alberta.)

Step 5: Select one of the training providers and review the company profile (You will be able identify a contact person, an email address and for some of the training providers a website. You can explore the website for more details on the company.)

Example 2 —
You are interested in identifying training providers specific to your industry that provide sales training. Your company is in the Tourism sector and located in British Columbia.

Step 1: Select the "Canadian Training Suppliers by Area of Training". (The information is listed by sector and areas of training specialization. While the list of sectors is not comprehensive, there is a variety of area of training choose from.)

Step 2: Select from the list "Tourism" (There will be a list of training suppliers that provide training to the tourism industry.)

Step 3: Select the "Search" feature because you are interested in identifying those training suppliers that provide sales training in British Columbia. (You will be searching companies that provide tourism training.)

Step 4: Enter in "Sales Training" in the first search box and click on "British Columbia" in the lower search feature and at the bottom of the page select "Search"(The list of companies you see are the training suppliers that provide sales training specific to the tourism sector in the Province of British Columbia.)

Step 5: Select one of the training providers and review the company profile (You will be able identify a contact person, an email address and for some of the training providers a website. You can explore the website for more details on the company.)

Example 3 —
You are interested in developing a literacy program or developing a new program for your employees. You are interested identifying a training provider to assist you with your project. Your company is located in Ontario.

Step 1: Select the "Canadian Training Solutions Company List". Here you will find training companies offering training products and services listed in alphabetical order.

Step 2: Select the "Search" feature because you are interested in identifying first all the training suppliers that provide literacy training. (You can see all the training companies and institutions that are listed on the database that specifically provide literacy training.)

Step 3: Type "literacy training" in the first search box, in the second search feature select "Ontario" go to the bottom and select "Search" (The list of companies you see are the training suppliers and educational institutions that provide literacy training in the Province of Ontario on this database.)

Step 4: Select one of the training providers and review the company profile (You will be able identify a contact person, an email address and for some of the training providers a website. You can explore the website for more details on the company.)

Example 4 —
You are looking for information technology products or multi media products that could assist in the training of your staff. Your organisation is located in Quebec.

Step 1: Select the "Canadian Training Suppliers by Area of Training". (The information is listed by sector and areas of training specialization. You should notice that under the sector list there is a category for Information Technology (IT) Training and a category for Multimedia)

Step 2: Select the category Information Technology (IT). You can see all the training companies and institutions that are listed on the database that develop and use learning technologies.

Step 3: Select the "Search" feature and click on Quebec in the second search box. Then select search at the bottom of the page (The list of companies you see are the training suppliers and educational institutions that provide Information Technology training in the Province of Quebec on this database.)

Step 4: Choose one of the training providers and review the company profile (You will be able identify a contact person, an email address and for some of the training providers a website. You can explore the website for more details on the company.)

Step 5: Repeat the same process as above but for Multimedia.
