The Pan Asia Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) Research and Development (R&D;) Grants Program promotes an R&D; environment for Internet-based applications, systems, and policy research in the Asia-Pacific region. The program is pleased to announce the January 2003 competition round for R&D; grant applications. This is a special competition round of the program in which proposals addressing the themes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) are being actively sought. These themes, which are explained in more detail on the WSIS website, are as follows:

  • Access to ICTs for all
  • ICTs as a Tool for Economic and Social Development — Meeting the Millennium Development Goals
  • Interested organizations from the Asia Pacific region may now apply for a grant under this program by following the instructions at the Pan Asia ICT R&D; Grants Program Web site. The deadline for submission of proposals in this competition round is by February 15 2003.

The Pan Asia ICT R&D; Grants Program is a joint effort of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Asia Pacific Development Information Programme (APDIP), an initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC). The program is managed by AMIC (Asian Media Information and Communication Centre).
