More than ever, the international community is committed to the struggle against poverty. In the contemporary approach to the relationship between economic growth and poverty, growth and inequality, economists have abandoned the naivety of the fifties, making the debate more complex than it was left by Kuznets’ pioneering work. Fouzi Mourji is a professor at the Hassan II University in Casablanca, Director of the Laboratoire de Statistique Appliquée à l’Analyse et la Recherche en Économie (LASAARE) [Laboratory for Statistics Applied to Economic Analysis and Research] and Coordinator of the UAF’s Economic Analysis and Development Network.

 

Bernard Decaluwé is a professor at Laval University in Quebec City and a senior researcher at the Centre Interuniversitaire sur le Risque, les Politiques Économiques et l’Emploi (CIRPEE) [Interuniversity Center on Risk, Economic Policy and Employment].
