The purpose of the work reported here is to provide an initial description of socioeconomic differentials in relation to health status and health service access by using data from demographic surveillance survey systems (DSS). The major objective of the study was to explore the utility of DSS as a source of equity monitoring data. ... The data obtained is intended to assist programme or policy makers to recognize health system inequities in order to improve the health status in the rural areas.
