Roadmap

Innovation - based on new technology - plays an enormous role in any company's success. Innovative companies generally enjoy greater sales, profitability and global market share. To accelerate the pace of innovation, it is essential that there be greater collaboration between partners sharing common innovation goals. Technology roadmapping brings players together to collaborate in a far-reaching planning process which can open the door to collaborative research and development.

Technology roadmapping is a planning process driven by the projected need of tomorrow's markets. It helps companies to identify, select, and develop technology options to satisfy future service, product or operational needs. In today's fiercely competitive environment, companies must use effective tools to plan their future. Technology roadmapping is a way to identify product or service needs, map them onto technology alternatives, and develop plans to help ensure the required technologies will be available when needed.

Via the process, companies in a given sector can pool their resources and work together with academia and governments, to look from 2-10 years into the future and determine what their specific market will require. This process is led by industry, and facilitated by government.

If your sector would be interested in discussing the development of a Technology Roadmap, please contact either Geoff Nimmo, telephone: (613) 954-3040 or Keith Collier, telephone: (613) 954-2893 .

We welcome all forms of Feedback on the roadmapping process, on this Web site, or on specific Roadmaps. Thank you.
