How Supply Management Works
line

Supply management is a system that ensures a stable supply of poultry and eggs for Canadian consumers and the agri-food industry. It also promotes stable farm incomes.

Supply management controls domestic production. In the Canadian federation, the provincial and territorial governments manage agriculture within their boundaries. The federal government manages interprovincial and export trade.Image of eggs

Four groups of poultry and egg producers have established national marketing agencies under the supervision of the National Farm Products Council. The producers control the amount of product they produce, and pay a fee (a levy) on all their production to fund the administration and marketing expenses of their provincial commodity boards and national agency.
