Opportunities Envelope – Latest Developments

The 2005 federal Budget announced that the Opportunities Envelope (OE) would be subsumed under a new Partnership Fund. Therefore, at this point in time, there are no plans for third call for proposals from provinces and territories under the OE. The implementation of projects approved under the first two rounds will, however, go ahead as planned.

The Government of Canada is currently hosting discussions with provinces and territories on the implementation of the Partnership Fund. Further information will be made available in the future. The Budget provided $250 million over five years for this new initiative and noted that this amount could be augmented as projects are identified and developed.
