Grants Programs Overview

Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP)

The CHRP program supports focused collaborative research projects in any field of the natural sciences and engineering which, if successful, will lead to health benefits for Canadians, more effective health services, and economic development in health-related areas.

Discovery Grants (DG) (Individual, Group and Subatomic Physics [SAP] Project)

Discovery Grants support ongoing programs of research. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all advances in research, whether made individually or in groups. Researchers are free to work in the mode most appropriate for the research area.

Discovery Grants – Northern Research Supplement

This supplement has been established to help augment and promote Canadian university-based northern research and training.

Ship Time (ST)
This program is aimed at all researchers who intend to use a vessel for their NSERC-supported research in the coming year.
Special Research Opportunity (SRO) Program

Special Research Opportunity (SRO) grants enable researchers to pursue new and emerging research opportunities at the time they become apparent, or investigate and develop potential new collaborations necessary to respond to these national and international opportunities.

Request for Proposals - International Polar Year Projects in the Natural Sciences and Engineering
A one-time funding opportunity through NSERC's Special Research Opportunity (SRO) Program for participation in projects that are part of International Polar Year (IPY) 2007 08.
