About the Award
,

In tribute to the excellence in research that Dr. John C. Polanyi continues to exemplify, NSERC is proud to offer a new research prize in his name. Although Dr. Polanyi’s most significant research accomplishments have been in chemistry, the NSERC John C. Polanyi Award recognizes a recent outstanding advance in any field of the natural sciences or engineering.

Rewarding excellence with a $250,000 research grant

The NSERC John C. Polanyi Award is given to an individual or a team whose research, conducted in Canada, has led to a recent outstanding advance in an NSERC-supported field of the natural sciences or engineering. The research leading to the advance must have been funded, at least partially, by an NSERC grant.

As part of the award, the winning individual or team will receive a research grant of $250,000.

If nominations of sufficient merit are made, one NSERC John C. Polanyi Award will be attributed each year. The first competition for the NSERC John C. Polanyi Award begins immediately, with a nomination closing date of March 1, 2006.
