Chairs and Faculty Support Programs Overview

Chairs in Design Engineering (CDE)
The Chairs in Design Engineering program aims to improve the level and quality of design engineering activity within Canadian universities.
Chairs in Environmental Design Engineering (CEDE)
The Chairs in Environmental Design Engineering program aims to improve the level and quality of environmental design engineering activity within Canadian universities. The Chairs are allocated on a regional basis.
Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE)

The Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering program is regional, with one Chair for each of the Atlantic, Québec, Ontario, Prairie and British Columbia regions. The goal of this Chair program is to increase the participation of women in science and engineering and to provide role models for women considering careers in these fields.

Industrial Research Chairs (IRC)
Industrial Research Chairs are prestigious appointments, intended to assist universities in building on existing strengths to achieve the critical mass required for a major research endeavour in science and engineering of interest to industry; and/or assist in the development of research efforts in fields that have not yet been developed in Canadian universities but for which there is an important industrial need.
Northern Research Chairs Program (NRCP)
The Northern Research Chairs Program aims to augment and promote Canadian university northern research and training in the natural sciences and engineering.
University Faculty Awards (UFA)
The goal of the University Faculty Awards program is to decrease the under-representation of women and Aboriginal peoples in faculty positions in the natural sciences and engineering.
