Abstract

The Aboriginal population in the north still exhibits what is termed a “young “ population. There are several regions in southern Canada that have a low proportion of youth. The small centres in the Prairies have lower proportions of youth than the surrounding rural area. Generally speaking, in areas with a large proportion of youth there are low proportions of elderly and vice versa.
