Federal Elections

Canada holds federal general elections for the House of Commons at least once every five years. General elections have been held since Confederation (1867). Each election leads to the formation of a new Parliament. As the Parliaments are numbered since Confederation, so are the elections. The three maps in this theme show the results of the three most recent elections (held in 2000, 2004 and 2006).
