AbstractMany health professionals in Canada consider that obesity
has reached or is nearing epidemic proportions in this country. Most scientific
evidence is supportive of physical activity as a positive determinant. Greater
health benefits can be achieved by increasing the amount; duration, frequency,
or intensity-of physical activity. Lack of physical activity has negative health
consequences. Population in the Atlantic Provinces tends to be more overweight
and inactive, at least in relative terms.
