"Border Blitz" Results in Numerous Charges

Environment Canada's wildlife enforcement branch conducted a series of inspections or "border blitzes" at six Canadian border crossings and airports in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba this fall. Over 1500 hunters and fishermen were checked by officers in order to ensure compliance of various fish and wildlife regulations and a total of $21,457 in fines were issued. Read More.

Oldest Known Female Whooping Crane Dies

The oldest known female Whooping Crane was recently found dead on the edge of Muskiki Lake, SK. Twenty-eight years ago, she was given unique coloured leg bands that would enable her to be tracked over the years. Since then, she has added 11 offspring to the flock, helping bring the species back from the brink of extinction. Read More.
