Special enforcement audits
The mandate of the Special Enforcement Program is to conduct audits and undertake other civil enforcement actions on individuals known or suspected of deriving income from illegal activities.
As part of our Special Enforcement Program, the CRA conducted 1,196 audits in 2004-2005, of taxpayers suspected of earning income from the illegal economy. These audits resulted in the identification of close to $75 million in additional tax owing.
The CRA also provides the results of the program in its Annual Report to Parliament.
