Compliance Issues

"The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) operates on the fundamental belief that its clients are more likely to comply with the law if they are treated fairly and have the information, advice, and other services they need to meet their obligations."

- from Your Rights

Like other CRA programs and services, the charities program has been designed to promote voluntary compliance.

The CRA encourages charities to correct any omissions or errors in their past dealings with them. These include filing inaccurate or incomplete information returns, issues related to the annual disbursement quota, etc. Our objective is to work with the charity to resolve difficulties and to help get it back on track.

To discuss a particular compliance problem or concern, contact Client Assistance, General Enquiries or the Charities Representative. They will address your concerns or refer you to someone who can.
