Supporting our Community

Our commitment to, and investment in, Canada's future prosperity begins right here at home where our people live
and work. From raising money through the United Way/Healthpartners to encouraging the pursuit of higher education,
we are all working toward one goal: to make a positive difference.

These are some of the ways we make this happen:
- Launched a $1 million international studies scholarship program in 2001 as part of our Education and Youth Employment Strategy.
- We award scholarships to qualifying children of employees to encourage academic excellence and the pursuit of higher education. Five scholarships were awarded in 2001 for studies at recognized universities and colleges (The university scholarships are valued at $1,500 and the college scholarships at $750.)
- EDC won the Top Corporate Participant in the Commuter Challenge for our third year, in 2001 with an employee participation rate of 76%.
- Our corporate head office team participated in the Labatt's 24-hour relay in 2001, raising $6,431 in pledges for local charities . This total was the third highest among the 85 teams that participated.
- Our United Way/Healthpartners campaign raised over $100,000 in 2000.
- We were named AIESEC Canada "Partner of the Year" at its Canada National Leadership Development Conference. The world's largest student organization, AIESEC is a global network of 50,000 members across more than 83 countries and territories in more than 800 universities worldwide.
