Your Statement of Intent

Once you submit your Statement of Intent and supporting documents, your development officer will review the package. You may be asked to provide additional information, or clarify the information you submitted.

When your development officer has received all of your information and clearly understands your plans, he or she will present your proposed project to a screening committee. The screening committee will determine if your project meets ABC's eligibility criteria.

After your project has been reviewed by the screening committee, next steps may include:

  • a request for further information, should re-screening the project be necessary;
  • a request to submit a complete business and/or marketing plan;
  • a request for consulting proposals to complete a business and/or marketing plan; and
  • notification that ABC will proceed with the assessment of your business plan.

If the screening committee declines your request, you will receive:

  • notification that your application did not meet ABC investment requirements and was not approved.

NOTE: Confirmation of eligibility by the screening committee does not guarantee that your application will be approved for financial assistance at this time. Aboriginal Business Canada (ABC) must still evaluate your business venture's viability, which you will be required to demonstrate through a business and/or marketing plan.
