Who are we?

Have you ever wondered if the gasoline pump used to fuel your car is accurate or the amount of electricity you are charged on your electricity bill is correct? Measurement Canada ensures that these and other types of measurement transactions are accurate. As an agency of Industry Canada, Measurement Canada sets the rules of the marketplace with respect to measurement and ensures that they are uniformly implemented and respected.

The job

Measurement Canada has various positions classified in the Technical Inspection (TI) group.

As an Inspector, you would be required to test and certify the accuracy of measuring instruments such as supermarket scales, gas pumps, and electricity and natural gas meters, and investigate when consumers or businesses suspect they have received inaccurate measurement. These positions are located in various locations across Canada.

As a Metrologist, you would be responsible for assessing and approving prototype measuring instruments, and calibrating and certifying field and laboratory standards used in the certification of weighing, measuring and metering instruments. These positions are located in Ottawa.

Who are you?

You have a background in the fields of electrical, electronics, mechanics, instrumentation technology, sciences or engineering. You are self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, and innovative.
