V-12 Volume Correction Factors for Toluene and Xylene Blends

Measurement Canada - V-12 - Volume Correction Factors for Toluene and Xylene Blends

PDF Format

Date: 1993-09-01
Bulletin: V-12-E
Category: Volume

1.    The purpose of this bulletin is to authorize for trade use, tables of volume correction factors (VCFs) for toluene and xylene blends.

2.    In particular, the volume correction factors contained in this bulletin are applicable to:

Toluene:
95-100 % by volume with densities ranging from 869 to 873 kg/m3 at 15ºC.

Xylene Blends:
All blends of O-, M-, P-Xylene with densities ranging from 865 to 875 kg/m3 at 15ºC.

3.    The volume correction factors contained in this bulletin are derived from the conversion of data contained in the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) document D1555-68a, published with temperatures expressed in degrees Fahrenheit and VCFs based on 60ºF, to data expressed with temperatures in degrees Celsius and VCFs based on 15ºC.

4.    To obtain the VCF of a liquid at a particular temperature, use the applicable authorized table. Enter the table with the indicated liquid temperature and read the corresponding VCF. Interpolated VCF values should be rounded to the nearest 0.1ºC.
