About Us

The Office of Petroleum Price Information connects Canadians with the latest information on the price of oil and petroleum products. By tracking changing prices and providing information on energy efficiency and government programs, the Office will help Canadians get the best value for their energy dollar and understand how the petroleum market affects their daily lives.

The Office was established in October 2005 by the Minister of Natural Resources Canada as part of the federal government's plan to provide energy relief to Canadians, help families lower their future energy costs and make the petroleum market more transparent.

By building on the information gathered by the provinces, territories and other federal departments, the Office will present Canadians with the facts they need to make informed decisions about the way they use energy.
