Attend the Official Start of Canada’s Citizenship Week!

OTTAWA, October 14, 2005 — On October 17, the Honourable Joe Volpe, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, will attend a special citizenship ceremony launching Canada’s Citizenship Week. In the presence of Citizenship Judge Suzanne Pinel, 50 people from 26 countries will become Canadian citizens. Father Gratien Girod will also be awarded a Citation for Citizenship.

The media are invited to cover this special event.
