About This Section

Scientists say we are now seeing some effects from climate change. By the time the current generation of schoolchildren reaches maturity, there will be even greater impacts. Incorporating climate change into school curriculum allows students to see the current challenge, understand future impacts and to also understand how they as individuals can make a difference.

This Web site is designed to provide teachers with curriculum ideas, lesson plans and information on climate change.

Geography, science, civics – many academic subjects can have a climate change element. Inside these general subject areas, there are many topics with a climate change element, such as: nature, ecosystems, atmosphere, greenhouse gases, energy, humans and water. See a quick tutorial on these topics and how they relate to climate change and your classroom.

You will also find success stories from others who are teaching the subject, references and resources, a glossary of terms, and a place for teachers to interact and trade experiences. The lesson plans are sorted by province and territory to get you started.

Throughout this Web site, words in blue will link to a glossary that is also available in print-friendly format for classroom use.
